Summary:
Avery Healthcare is seeking a Maintenance Operative to ensure the upkeep of the building and grounds at Elton House Care Home. The role involves performing general maintenance tasks, basic repairs, assisting new residents with room setup, and overseeing routine re-decoration to maintain care home standards. Candidates should have at least one year of relevant experience, a full driving license, and knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct general maintenance and basic repairs (electrical, plumbing, joinery) inside and outside the home.
- Assist residents in arranging their rooms.
- Ensure timely routine re-decorating as needed.
- Advise on supply and quality of maintenance materials and manage orders for replacements.
- Participate in an on-call rota for emergency out-of-hours service.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of experience in maintenance or a related trade.
- Full driving license required.
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols, including Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
- Flexibility and adaptability to handle various responsibilities.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Your focus as a Maintenance Operativewillbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
- Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
- Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome.
- Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
- Providingout of hours emergency service,participatingin the on-call rota.

- Have a minimum of one years experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
- Hold a full driving licence.

- Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
