Ward 2 is an acute ward for males of working age. We offer assessment and initial treatment for males with a variety of mental health needs, and work closely with other services to ensure ongoing recovery. We pride ourselves in offering intuitive, person centred interventions and we keep people at the heart of everything we do.
North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust aims to provide accessible, non-stigmatising local services that contribute to the assessment, intervention, treatment, rehabilitation and enablement of patients within the Acute and Urgent Care Directorate. To provide specialist assessment and interventions to identify and address occupational performance needs in self-care, productivity and leisure to support the safe and effective assessment and discharge of patients. The service is wholly committed to working with older people and their families and carers using Person Centred Planning approaches and affording older person's with mental health or cognitive decline the opportunities to maximize independence, choice and control. The Occupational Therapist has a lead role in promoting, enhancing and maintaining the health and wellbeing of older people with a mix of complex health needs.

Will undertake a variety of Occupational Therapy assessments to assist in the identification of person centred support needs and intervention.
Plan, organise and supervise implementation of a diverse and extensive range of treatment aimed at enabling clients to achieve their maximum potential in activities of daily living.
Provide a wide range of therapeutic interventions ensuring evidence based practice according to the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines to achieve therapeutic goals.
Undertake complex assessment of client need and signpost appropriately within the Acute and urgent Care Directorate and to external agencies. OT assessments and interventions which contribute to the multi professional assessment of older persons, will focus on promoting function, quality of life and the realisation of potential where there is occupational deprivation, imbalance or alienation.
