Childrens Emergency Department (ED)
Childrens ED is a busy department who currently see large volumes of children every year in an area specifically dedicated to children. Children who are attending with urgent care complaints are streamed straight to this area.
Childrens Clinical Decision Area (CCDA) and Short Stay
The Childrens Decision Area sees children referred from GPs, children with direct access and children sent from ED requiring a further assessment. The short stay area is for children who require a prolonged period of observation but who are unlikely to need a full admission to hospital.
Ward 30 (Childrens Inpatient Unit)
Ward 30 is a Childrens Inpatient Unit that was purpose built in 2. The unit includes 35 inpatient beds, a two-bedded stabilisation area. The ward has an adolescent room, school room, play room, and an accessible bathroom. Each bed space also has state of the art bedside monitoring.
