To deliver an effective and competent level of therapy programme, set up by therapists within the team, under the guidance and supervision of the therapy staff. This will be led by the client's rehabilitation plan and will include supporting the work of the OTs, PTs and other team members.
To carry out simple assessments of patients referred to the team in terms of equipment provision independently.
To promptly report any therapy programme concerns to an appropriate professional as indicated by that professional's "professional guidelines"
To consistently deliver a client-focussed service which promotes optimum independence in the clients home
To adhere to the in-house code of conduct and attend mandatory and in service training.
To take a lead role in the induction of other Rehabilitation assistants
The post holder will be responsible for:

Monday - Friday 08:30-16:30/ 9-5
Have worked within therapy team previously.
Mandatory manual handling
Know how to support safe transfers and mobility
Working with older persons, ideally community experience/ falls, experience of rehab
1. To contribute to the initial and on-going assessment of a client by completing relevant paperwork and recording and reporting feedback to the therapist.
2. To prepare for, and assist with, clinical activities delivered by the therapist.
3. To adhere to universal precautions, including hand washing and disposal of waste, and ensure effective cleaning of equipment before and after the activity.
4. To undertake prescribed therapy activities and ADL assessments that you have previously been signed competent for, and report any variances or concerns back to relevant team members.
5. To assess safety of conditions and environment prior to in/outdoor rehabilitation activities.
6. To provide clear communication and explanations to patients and effectively respond to questions posed during interventions with no direct supervision.
7. To coach other support staff in undertaking prescribed therapeutic interventions, and in the use of specific equipment
About us8. To enable clients to maintain and improve their independence by fitting prescribed equipment, demonstrate and educate safe use of equipment.
9. To teach the client mobility techniques with a variety of equipment including wheelchairs.
10. To maximize and maintain patient safety at all times. This may include continual improvements in care such as working to reduce falls and pressure areas.
11. To assist therapists in ordering appropriate equipment for clients.
12. To refer clients to other agencies, as advised by therapist.
13. To handle and move clients, as indicated, by using prescribed equipment and techniques as detailed in training and be familiar with, and utilise, the services and advice given by the Handling Advisor
14. To contribute to the protection of vulnerable adults from abuse by highlighting and monitoring for signs of abuse and reporting these to the therapist.
15. To respond any client questions constructively and to promptly pass on any questions you are unable to resolve, to appropriate professionals.
16. To manage your own caseload, time and appointments.
