Do you have developing skills in the management of deaf children and would like to work in an tertiary hospital? Our Cochlear Implant Speech and Language TherapyTeam are looking for an experienced SLT to join them. You would join our innovative and supportive team of SLT specialising in Cochlear Implant and a CI SLT Support Worker, based on the central Great Ormond Street Hospital . Youwill provide a high-level specialist Speech and Language Therapy service consisting of assessment, differential diagnosis, interpretation, treatment and management of children for a designated geographical caseload of deaf children on the cochlear implant programme. As a tertiary level service, these CYP will present with complex medical and communication presentations requiring the input of a multidisciplinary team. You will provide high level specialist input to the assessment, treatment planning and provision of therapy programmes making recommendations to community personnel, including health visitors, teachers, SENCOS and particularly the Speech and Language Therapy profession regarding ongoing provision and need. You are required to contribute to formal and informal undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training of Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals and is responsible for providing support and clinical supervision to students and volunteers. Audit and innovation are central to our practice and research academic pathways are supported. Many of the patients on the caseload present with multiple diagnoses This requires joint evaluation, application of expansive skill set and collaborativemanagement. To function as an independent practitioner accessing the SSH Service's formal supervision system and seeking and maintaining peer support from other specialist practitioners, in line with Clinical Governance and professional guidelines. To present the specialised subject in an evidenced based framework and at an appropriate level to a wide range of audiences (eg. parents, teachers, medical colleagues, Allied Health Professionals, consumer groups) in consultation with the Lead SLT for the service. To initiate, plan and implement and contribute to research, development and audit activities under the guidance of the Team Leader and the Head of Speech and Language Therapy To adhere to relevant National, Trust and Departmental policies and procedures regarding clinical and administrative practices.
