3rd Line Cloud Engineer

As a 3rd Line Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining, supporting, and developing DHUs IT network infrastructure and systems to meet the demands of our 24/7/365 operational environment. Working closely with our vendors and partner providers, you will ensure optimal system availability to support the critical services we deliver.

Beyond technical support, you will act as a key problem-solver and communicator, capable of working effectively under pressure in a dynamic and fast-paced setting. This role requires you to provide essential on-site IT services as part of a 7-day working pattern, including bank holidays, with on-call responsibilities to address and resolve service incidents swiftly.Join us in this critical role and contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional, continuous care through reliable and robust IT support.

What your typical day looks like:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and automation of Azure cloud infrastructure
  • Build, configure, administer, and manage the cloud technologies, systems, and components
  • Package and deploy applications via Intune
  • Manage and deploy GPOs and applications via Intune
  • Manage Autopilot deployments
  • Administer all O365 functionality, such as users, groups, static and dynamic distribution lists
  • Timely and proactive resolution of cloud and 3rdline technical issues in support of DHU operational requirements
  • Delivery of planned maintenance and infrastructure upgrades across the DHU digital estate.
  • Provision of 3rdline and cloud support to Service Management team
  • Lead identified strategic cloud-based infrastructure projects in support of DHUs wider digital strategy.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of identified systemic issues in response to in service events

What your typical day looks like:

  • Support the deployment and configuration of a range of layer 2 and layer 3 network elements such as routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs
  • Perform in-life operational activities of network elements, including hardware and software upgrades, security configuration and patching, and technology refresh
  • Perform hands-on configuration of networking hardware adhering to approved procedures and processes
  • Provision of 3rdline support to Service Management team
  • Lead identified strategic infrastructure projects in support of DHUs wider digital strategy.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of identified systemic issues in response to service events
  • Work on-site at data centre locations when necessary
  • Diagnosis and resolution of network faults, including escalations from our helpdesk
  • Working in collaboration with our current 3rdparty network provider and any 3rd party vendors where necessary
  • Liaise with service partners and customers
  • Proactively handle support cases assigned to you
  • Working with both technical and non-technical staff as the key point of contact
  • Ensure SLAs are met, documentation is correct, and policies/procedures are in place
