The University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join their microbiology team in Brighton. The primary responsibilities of this role include data entry, handling telephone inquiries, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing stock control, and disposing of laboratory waste. The assistant will also issue results according to standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with confidentiality and data protection regulations.

This position is focused on supporting diagnostic services but does not provide a pathway to IBMS registration or becoming a Biomedical Scientist. Candidates should be prepared to handle various inquiries, maintain an understanding of departmental changes, and perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, while adhering to established protocols. A bank role may be offered if applicants are not selected for the substantive position.
