The University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Biomedical Scientist and Health and Safety Representative for its Cellular Pathology Laboratory in Brighton. This role involves managing day-to-day operations within the lab, supervising a team of Biomedical Scientists and Laboratory Assistants, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality laboratory services, including histology and cytology work. The post-holder will be responsible for health and safety compliance, conducting risk assessments, and maintaining adherence to Trust, HSE, and UKAS standards.

Candidates should have current experience in a UKAS accredited Cellular Pathology setting and hold an MSc or equivalent experience in the field. Responsibilities include overseeing laboratory investigations, managing workflow, performing complex analyses, and maintaining lab instrumentation. In addition, the role demands engagement in standard operating procedures and participation in quality control and assurance activities to ensure accurate and precise results in the laboratory.
