Clinical Psychologist / Counselling Psychologist - Band 7

• To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service to the long term conditions service including inpatients and outpatients across all sectors of care; providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy.
• Offering advice and consultation on clients psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures.
• To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

Psychological Therapist - Band 7

• The post holder will provide a timely adult mental health assessment. They will offer effective signposting as required and will deliver evidence based psychological therapies to those identified as experiencing common mental health problems.
• The post holder will offer training, liaison and consultation to colleagues within the Psychology in Healthcare Service to contribute to the improved delivery of psychological therapies across the acute trust and primary care in Newcastle and support the implementation of local protocols.
• The post holder will operate as part of an integrated Psychological Therapies Service and will liaise with Community Mental Health Teams and other specialist Mental Health Services.
• Deputise for locality co-ordinator when necessary.
• Post holders will provide clinical and case management supervision.
• Will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages using interpreters where necessary.
• They will also be required to provide supervision to other staff as appropriate.
• The post has a requirement to work flexibly in line with the aim of providing greater access to clients.

Clinical - Counselling Psychologist - Band 8a

• To provide a specialist clinical/counselling psychology service within Talking Helps Newcastle, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy.
• Offering advice and consultation on patients psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines and to other, non-professional carers.
• To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures.
• To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

We are recruiting to Band 7/8a Clinical Psychologist/Counselling Psychologist or Band 7 Psychological Therapist roles. These posts are on a fixed term contract for 18 months. We are looking for enthusiastic Clinical Psychologists/Counselling Psychologists/Psychological Therapists to work in our Multispecialty team which provides both inpatient and outpatient assessments and psychological interventions to patients with a wide range of different physical health conditions/difficulties who are under medical and surgical teams within Newcastle Hospitals.

These roles will involve providing assessment and interventions to inpatients on wards at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital using a brief therapy model, and also assessment and psychological therapy to outpatients referred to our team. This is a great opportunity to build skills working with a wide range of psychological difficulties and presentations and to experience working in a leading acute hospital trust. You will have opportunities to input into innovative service development, research and audit, and CPD.

We encourage applications from Clinical Psychologists/Counselling Psychologists/Psychological Therapists with experience or an interest in working in physical health. You will become a member of our Multispecialty team within a large and supportive psychology service and will have good support from the Psychology in Healthcare service and opportunities to further develop skills and experience. Clinicians in the team use a variety of approaches including CBT, ACT and EMDR amongst others. The service also has close links with the Doctorate Course in Clinical Psychology at Newcastle University.

As a Clinical Psychologist/Counselling Psychologist/Psychological Therapist, you will be offering psychological care to patients with physical health needs. Your role will be to provide a high quality and evidence based psychological service, offering assessment, formulation and psychological interventions to both inpatients and outpatients referred to the Multispecialty team. You will play an active role in the multispecialty team, attending team meetings (when appropriate) and being involved in delivering and shaping our service.
