Leeds Teaching Hospitals is seeking a Band 7 Highly Specialist Respiratory Physiologist/Team Lead to manage and enhance the daily operations of their expanding respiratory and sleep department. The successful candidate will exhibit strong leadership skills while working both independently and as part of a team to conduct a range of advanced and routine respiratory investigations, including lung function tests, sleep study analyses, and support for CPAP and NIV teams. The position also involves leading the newly developed Paediatric Respiratory Physiology service, ensuring integration within the adult team, clinical supervision of staff, and accountabilities for the daily management of respiratory labs.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role requires the individual to actively participate in professional development, research, and audits, while providing mentorship and training to junior and trainee staff. It is expected that the Highly Specialist Physiologist will maintain technical competencies, engage in evidence-based practice, and liaise effectively with the multidisciplinary medical team to influence patient care outcomes. The position demands high levels of autonomy, communication, and technical skills, alongside a commitment to maintaining professional registration and adherence to national guidelines.
