This Programme Manager post provides a unique opportunity to:

Drive forward a new, innovative workforce, training and education portfolio, that is critical to the successful delivery of the Long-term Workforce Plan, working with sub-regional systems of health and social care to deliver improved patient care and population health.

Create transformational change in the future and current AHP workforce to ensure improved and safe patient care.

Work locally and regionally, influencing and shaping the transformation agenda for AHP innovation and practice.

Provide comprehensive, high quality project leadership working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Contribute to medium and long-term AHP workforce strategies for the region and sub-regional systems.

As a Programme Manager the post holder will work as part of a dynamic AHP clinical team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff.

The post holder will support the Regional Head of AHP's and their team, to ensure successful implementation of the AHP portfolio's of work at regional and sub-regional level andhave specific responsibility for:

Providing comprehensive project management dutiesoverseeing the delivery of the work streams identified as Regional priorities for the AHP workforce.

Working with key partners internal and external to NHS England to ensure the successful implementation of the teams delivery plan of Workforce, Training and Education.

Liaising closelywith the National AHP Programme

Ensuring attention to detail in all aspects of their work.

The post holder will have experience of working at senior manager level and with Directors.

They will have strong personal credibility, excellent leadership, communication, and programme management skills.

They will be able to evidence sound project management experience and high-quality skills and be confident with reporting software and processes.

The Programme Manager must demonstrate the ability to function competently both as a leader and member of the AHP team and must understand and enable the role and contribution of other team members.

  • To monitor, interpret and quality assure progress against deliverables to NHS England and NHS Improvement that often require adjustments specifically in relation to the complex corporate business agenda, strategic objectives and the business planning process

  • To develop business plans and provide expert strategic and policy advice and guidance on all areas of the National Directors portfolio

Project Management

Lead the team in the delivery of project plans, allocating tasks as appropriate, identifying risks, issues and dependencies, considering best practice and current options and ultimately making decisions in the best interest of the project.

Pro-actively manage stakeholders, respond to and resolve conflict when this arises through facilitation or other appropriate mechanisms.

Be responsible for a high standard of work supporting the delivery of projects on time, to quality standards and in a cost-effective manner.

Maintain the project initiation document and associated plans with regular team meetings to monitor progress and resources.

Demonstrate effective stakeholder management.

Support other project managers as and when required.

Take into account the impact of any change the projects will have on the business and oversee handover of any products to ensure full ownership and buy-in within the business Advocate the projects at senior and executive levels and ensure active engagement and sponsorship within NHS as a whole.
