Band 4: £26,928 to £29,551 a year per annum  PERMANENT  GOOD SALARY 

The Medical Secretary's role is to provide a full administrative and comprehensive secretarial service to the Consultants and their teams.

Act as a point of contact and liaise with all medical staff, patients, relatives, GP and any support services.

Administer and arrange Consultant's schedule which can include changing clinics at short notice and arranging meetings.

  • Exchange verbal and written information from patients, relatives and GPs ensuring the caller's needs are clearly established.
  • Liaise with appropriate staff in making routine and emergency admissions as directed by clinicians.
  • Arrange with the ambulance department transport as necessary.
  • Liaise with other hospitals regarding patient's appointments and any other correspondence.
  • Answer non-medical queries in the absence of the consultant using tact and persuasive skills.
  • Act as first point of contact for the consultant and team, accurately record messages and pass on all appropriate enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Send out clinic appointments and deal with related queries.
  • Communicate with other sections within the department and other departments within the division

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
