The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in Reading is seeking a Consultant in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine to join their supportive and enthusiastic team. This position is primarily focused on interstitial lung disease (ILD), with the ideal candidate either possessing expertise in the area or willing to develop it. The role involves a mix of inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and day case bronchoscopy procedures. Key responsibilities include managing a specialist respiratory inpatient ward, conducting multiple ILD and general clinics, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, and engaging in service development and clinical research.

The successful applicant will benefit from opportunities for professional growth, including involvement in teaching and participating in a comprehensive on-call rota for both respiratory and general medicine. Work activities will mainly be based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital with occasional clinics at other sites, and flexibility in responsibilities can be discussed upon appointment. The department emphasises providing exceptional patient care while supporting the well-being of its staff.
