To document clearly all consultations and treatments provided in patient records.
To ensure the delivery of an effective Practice Nursing Service to the practice population. This will involve assessing patients health needs, planning and implementing care to meet those needs and evaluation of the care delivered, in conjunction with the General Practitioner.
Main Duties
Clinical
- To carry out a wide range of General practice nursing duties including Venepuncture, wound care, general health checks, ECGs, ear syringing, blood pressure checks, routine urine tests, immunisations, cervical smears and chronic disease monitoring. To actively encourage and develop health promotion, providing advice in areas of hypertension monitoring, travel, diet and smoking cessation
- To participate in enhanced services by the practice
- Assisting the GP with procedures eg. coil fittings, swabs, minor surgery procedures and chaperoning, as and when required.
- Assist infection control link nurse to ensure protocols/procedures are current and adhered to.
Administration
- To document clearly all consultations and treatments provided in patient records
- To continually monitor standards and evaluate care by audit
- To participate in the development of protocols and guidelines
- To maintain treatment rooms in a clean and tidy manner, to monitor and order stock for treatment room
- To maintain Health and Safety within treatment rooms ie. Monitor fridge temperature, ensure the safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste
Professional Responsibilities
To be responsible for own professional practice and accountability according to UKCC guidelines and to maintain UKCC registration and an up to date knowledge of drug administration.
To acknowledge clinical limitations and undertake any procedure for which you feel you are not adequately trained.
To maintain confidentiality
The post holder will be expected to maintain their knowledge and skills, by attending regular education updates and courses as required, in accordance with continuing professional development.
We are a high achieving QOF practice with a list size of 4,300 patients and rated as "Good" at our last CQC inspection.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring nurse who enjoys team work but is capable of working alone.
The position is for 23.5 hours a week.
Working hours and remuneration are negotiable for the ideal candidate.
The role is diverse and will include:
- Smears
- Childhood Immunisation
- Contraception
- Travel Vaccinations
- Feno (not essential)
- Minor and Complex wound management including removal of sutures, leg ulcers with compression and Doppler assessment
- Ear Syringe
