Outpatient Network is currently seeking Dietitians with Tier 3 Bariatric experience to join our Bariatric services across Derby & Burton NHS FT.
Dietitian Tier 3 Bariatric Service
Role Overview:
The Dietitian will play a key role in delivering first attendance consultations to patients referred to the Tier 3 bariatric service. The role involves assessing patients nutritional status, developing individualized care plans, and providing dietary interventions to support patients in managing obesity and preparing for potential bariatric surgery.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments
during first appointments, including reviewing medical history, dietary habits, and lifestyle factors.
Develop personalized dietary care plans
that are realistic and tailored to the patient's needs, supporting weight management and improving overall health.
Educate and counsel patients
on dietary strategies to manage obesity, including portion control, nutritional intake, and behavior modification.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
(e.g., psychologists, bariatric surgeons, nurses) to provide holistic care for patients.
Monitor patient progress
through follow-up assessments, adjusting dietary plans as necessary to meet ongoing health and nutritional goals.
Provide pre- and post-operative nutritional support
to patients undergoing bariatric surgery, ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
in line with NHS policies and procedures.
Promote evidence-based dietary advice
in alignment with NICE guidelines and current research on obesity management.

HCPC registration
. - Previous experience in
obesity management or bariatric services
preferred. - Strong knowledge of
nutritional needs
for obese patients, including pre- and post-surgery requirements. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload efficiently.
Desirable:
- Experience with
motivational interviewing
and behavior change techniques. - Understanding of
Tier 3 weight management services
within the NHS framework.
