The University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Operating Department Practitioner/Nurse Clinical Trainer for its Main Theatres at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. This full-time role, part of the Peri Operative Practice Development Team, involves providing clinical support and training to new staff and students in a busy 24/7 theatre environment, which includes specialties such as Trauma, ENT, and Gynaecology. The successful candidate will have extensive theatre scrub experience and relevant teaching qualifications, with responsibilities that include competency-based assessments, development of education and training programs, and collaboration with the practice development team to promote evidence-based clinical practices.

The role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with various healthcare professionals, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care. Additionally, the Clinical Trainer will manage orientation and support for new staff, participate in quality improvement initiatives, provide informal and formal teaching sessions, and support curriculum development in partnership with educational institutions. The candidate must adhere to relevant professional codes of conduct and health and safety legislation, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective perioperative care.
