The Staff Nurse role in Ward 18 Surgery at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, part of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, multi-specialty Emergency Surgical environment. The position seeks enthusiastic and motivated individuals committed to ensuring high standards of patient care. The Trust provides in-house specialist training, a supportive preceptorship program for newly qualified nurses, and tailored development opportunities for experienced nurses, including a specific competency passport.

Nurses in this role will be responsible for supervising nursing staff, conducting patient assessments, ensuring safe and effective care delivery, and promoting health and illness prevention. The position involves participating in audits relevant to the ward and providing a communicative, supportive atmosphere for both staff and patients. Shifts are scheduled on a 24/7 rotation basis, and the Trust emphasises staff wellbeing with resources such as a dedicated wellness hub.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on Ward 18, a multi speciality Emergency Surgical Ward at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The emergency surgical floor has recently been reconfigured and we are looking to recruit keen, enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic individuals to deliver and drive high standards of safe patient care.

We have some excellent opportunities for you to expand your clinical skills and be part of our friendly, supportive, proactive team.

In-house specialist training is provided and we actively promote professional development and strive to offer a learning environment where staff feel empowered to enhance their knowledge and skills.

If you are a newly qualified nurse, you will be supported through the Trusts 1 year preceptorship programme.

For experienced nurses, your development will be tailored to your individual needs along with a specifically designed surgical competency passport.

Acts at all times in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
Supervises the work of the nursing team, ensuring individual programmes of care are formulated accordingly to patient needs and current research/guidelines.
Undertakes the assessment of patients including risk assessments e.g Purpose T and falls assessments
Ensures planned nursing care is delivered safely and effectively taking into account the views of the patient and their relatives.
Ensures plans of care are implemented and updated as appropriate.Advises on the promotion of health and prevention of illness.
Acts as link nurse to other specialties.
Participates in Audits relevant to the ward area.
