The Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Specialist at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Orpington is responsible for supporting the prevention, surveillance, and control of infections within the healthcare environment. This role involves assisting the Senior Infection Control Nurse and collaborating with the Infection Control Team to implement strategies that reduce healthcare-associated infections, deliver education to staff, and provide specialized clinical advice on infection control practices. The post holder will also engage in data collection, audit work, and the investigation of outbreaks, while acting as a role model to inspire compliance with infection control policies.

Additionally, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will maintain close communication with medical microbiologists and virologists, ensuring a comprehensive and high-quality service is provided across the Trust. This position requires autonomy in managing infection-related issues, participating in committees, and contributing to policy formulation. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement within infection prevention and control practices.
