Band 8a: £59,490 to £66,239 a year pa incl HCAS (15% outer) pro rata  PERMANENT 

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the very dynamic nursing team at Kingston Hospital, an acute hospital, (awarded team of the year by the British Dermatological Nursing Group in 2022). You'll be joining a well-established, supportive team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and work closely with Consultant Dermatologists and Consultant Plastic Surgeons within the Dermatology and Plastic Surgery department. You will be responsible for providing specialist nursing care to patients with a range of dermatological conditions, including inflammatory skin conditions.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and have extensive experience in dermatology. You will also be an independent nurse prescriber with a strong understanding of the legal and professional issues surrounding this role.

The main duties for the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) are:

  • To provide specialist nursing care to patients with dermatological conditions.
  • To manage a patient caseload.
  • To prescribe medication as an independent prescriber.
  • To provide expert clinical, social, and psychological support to patients/carers.
  • To support the delivery of phototherapy.
  • To refer suitable patients for diagnostic tests.
  • To participate in the management and strategic development of the dermatology service.
  • To support the development of health promotion/education packages.
  • To establish effective working relationships with patients, families, and carers.
  • To support the Nurse Consultant in planning an education strategy.
  • To maintain a safe working environment.
  • To undertake research and audit.
  • To participate in the development and implementation of standards of care.
  • To comply with the Trust's policies on diversity.
  • To identify own training and development needs.
  • To maintain high standards of professional practice and competence.
  • To act responsibly in respect of colleagues' health, safety, and welfare.
  • To adhere to all Trust Policies as applicable.
  • To line-manage the inflammatory skin CNSs.
