We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Haematology Nurse to join our CNS team. This will be a 12 month post covering maternity leave. We require the post holder to have minimum of 2 years' experience within a Haematology setting. The role will involve providing advice, care and support to patients and families who attend our outpatient, Ambulatory and Palatine Treatment Centre. You will co-ordinate patient care and act as a key worker for your own patient case load. Working hours are Monday -Friday and cross cover within the team is a requirement for this post.
To work within the haematology nursing team and be a `key worker` for patients and their families. Provide specialist nursing advice, care and support for patients attending the Palatine Treatment Centre and Palatine Ward and other wards within the Trust.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide evidence based individualized patient care according to patients changing healthcare needs, through holistic needs assessment ( HNA )
- Act as an associate `Keyworker` for a clinical case load, working to support the lead haematology clinical nurse specialist by providing the co-ordination of patient care. Will be responsible for allocated disease groups and may change dependent on service need.
- Support the haematology team to assess patient`s information needs and provide relevant information to meet those needs, ensuring the focus is on the promotion of health as well as illness.
- Contribute to the collection of quantitive and qualitative data, utilizing this data by providing written reports when required which provide evidence of productivity, outcomes and quality.
- Actively integrates research, theory and practice by undertaking surveys or audits as necessary.
- Participates in the development of trust policy and clinical guidelines within haematology. Ensures patient information documents are produced in a timely manner.
- Develops skills in advanced communication for all aspects of patient assessment, care and support.
- Provide nurse led bone marrow clinic and cross- cover in times of annual leave or absence for existing haematology clinical nurse specialist.
- Provide support and cross cover if required by the wider nursing team.
- Actively participates in multi- professional meetings, acting as the patient advocate and representing nursing views.
- Demonstrates the agreed set of values and accountable for own attitude and behaviour

- Provide a supportive working environment and maintenance of staff morale, promoting a culture in which members of the team feel valued and able to achieve their potential.
- Actively participate in clinical risk assessments and ensure correct reporting of clinical incidents in accordance with hospital policy.

- Supports the development and promotion of the specialist nursing service ensuring the delivery of high quality, cost effective care.

Education
- Attend annual updates and ensure compliance with all mandatory training
- Support the Lead Haematology CNS in the education and training of other professionals involved in patient care within the specialism of haematology
- Take responsibility for life- long learning and personal development through clinical supervision, appraisal and actively engages with learning development opportunities.
Professional Development
- Support the nursing contribution to service development, ensuring the pursuit of excellence in care
- Contribute to the identification of service goals and appreciates how these link with performance targets and quality indicators.
- Ensure the provision of care is in accordance with The Christie NHS Trust policy and procedures guidelines
- Work with the Lead Haematology CNS to contribute to annual reports and work plan development.
- Promote patient centred services for patients affected by cancer and work in collaboration with allied health professionals in the trust and in the community
- Promote equality and value diversity
