Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in Microbiology to enhance their esteemed microbiology services. This role offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop a sub-specialty interest and will complement a team of 4.45 WTE consultant microbiologists. Responsibilities include overseeing the medical supervision of the microbiology department, providing diagnostic and therapeutic services, participating in infection control committees, and delivering out-of-hours telephone support on a 1 in 5 basis. The position also emphasises collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining clinical records, and contributing to the training and development of medical staff.

Additionally, the Consultant will engage in clinical governance, audit, and professional development, while also participating in leadership and service development initiatives. The role requires collaboration with senior divisional teams to improve department management and resource efficiency, ensuring optimal microbiology service delivery aligned with modern healthcare practices.
