As a Clinical Team Leader you will be committed to ongoing service and clinical development inclusive of service user / carer involvement.
Providing clinical leadership to nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality individualised person centre standards of care are delivered to all patients.
You will deputise for the Ward Manager and support them to ensure the safe and effective running of the ward.
Ensure the effective supervision and development of staff
To work and act as a key member of the team, supporting each patient with achieving their planned outcomes
To act as the lead nurse in the assessment, implementation of care through to point of discharge
To take charge of clinical area
To adopt a flexible approach to hours of duty, in order to meet the needs of the service over a 24 hour period.

Job Purpose
To assist the Ward Manager in setting up standards, promoting change and developing nursing practice, supervision and audit.
To deputise for the manager in his/her absence.
To ensure the delivery of high standards of nursing care to all service users, in accordance with evidence based professional practice and trust policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Communication & Working Relationships
To have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Work in partnership with all health, social care professionals and other stake holders, maintaining effective communication that benefits the patients/ service users wellbeing. Liaise with carers, families and user groups and representatives.
Planning & Organisation
To act as shift coordinator supporting staff in shift planning and management.
Understanding and management of staffing on a daily basis including working with others to redeploy staff safely.
To deputise for the manager in his/her absence.
Lead and supervise others, undertake PDRs and manage absence.
Assist with the development and delivery and evaluation of evidence based treatments.
To participate in training and development of junior staff within the clinical environment. Monitoring of clinical work.
To develop the team to maximise skills.
To ensure the appropriate delegation of tasks taking into consideration the skills and grade of staff members.
Produce staffing rotas, taking into consideration budgetary requirements, skill/gender grade mix to meet clinical need
Responsibility for Patient/Client Care, Treatment & Therapy
To ensure that care plans are implemented and reviewed as part of ongoing assessment.
To ensure that robust, up to date risk assessments are carried out by the relevant staff.
To ensure standards of care are maintained to the highest level.
To promote good practice in the management of acutely disturbed clients.
To adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and other professional guidelines.
Policy, Service, Research & Development Responsibility
To work with the Ward Manager to review, update and implement standards and policies for use in secure inpatient settings as appropriate.
To participate in ongoing training and education progress.
To be aware of current initiatives in inpatient care.
To promote service changes with a positive and professional attitude.
To explore innovative ways of delivering and improving patient care.
Responsibility for Finance, Equipment & Other Resources
Establish an efficient working environment, making the most effective user of staff, supplies, equipment and services.

To ensure accurate documentation.

Smoking
The Trust operates a non smoking policy. Employees are not permitted to smoke anywhere within the premises of the Trust or when outside on official business. Staff must also be mindful of public perception and must therefore not smoke whilst travelling in Trust identified vehicles or when can be identified as Devon Partnership Mental Health Trust staff.
