LIVER TRANSPLANTATION NHS ON-CALL TRANSPLANT
The role of Clinical Fellow in Hepatobiliary & Transplant Surgery at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust focuses on supporting transplant and hepatobiliary surgical activities at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Candidates should possess prior experience in liver transplantation, ideally with backgrounds in either paediatric surgery or transplantation. The position, lasting for one year, involves participating in the on-call rota within the Transplant Team, while daytime responsibilities are divided between medical and surgical middle grade doctors. Applicants will be assigned to either Tier 1 or Tier 2 roles based on experience, with Tier 1 focusing on direct patient management and theatre assistance, and Tier 2 involving more supervisory tasks and training.

The fellowship provides opportunities for both clinical and academic engagement, including involvement in the adult Liver Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. On-call duties are shared among a small team, emphasizing a collaborative approach to handling transplantation and hepatobiliary emergencies.
