The Training Programme Director for Cardiothoracic Surgery at NHS England in Manchester will play a crucial role in the strategic development and operational support of the School of Surgery. This position involves leading the development of a Recruitment and Retention Strategy for Cardiothoracic Surgery trainees and actively participating as a member of the School Board, overseeing both East and West sectors in the Northwest. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Head of School to implement a Medical Workforce Strategy aimed at enhancing trainee recruitment and retention, while also providing expert advice on specialty-specific matters.

This position is a three-year secondment, with the possibility of extension, and requires candidates to secure agreement from their current employer if applying from within the NHS. Key responsibilities include supporting trainee assessment, rotational management, and supervision, as well as promoting or leading various work programs on behalf of the School of Surgery.

The Training Programme Director in Cardiothoracic Surgery will support the Head of School in the Strategic Development of the School of Surgery.
The post holder will lead on the development of the School's Recruitment and Retention Strategy and contribute to supporting the School Operational Programme.
The post holder will be a member of the School Board.
Please note this role will cover both the East and West sectors in the NW
Please note this is a 3-year secondment extendable to a maximum of three years, subject to mutual agreement.

Work in collaboration with Head of School of Surgery to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy which supports the recruitment and retention of Cardiothoracic Surgery Trainees with focus on the regional education programs.
