The Training Programme Director for Cardiothoracic Surgery at NHS England in Manchester will play a crucial role in the strategic development and operational support of the School of Surgery. This position involves leading the development of a Recruitment and Retention Strategy for Cardiothoracic Surgery trainees and actively participating as a member of the School Board, overseeing both East and West sectors in the Northwest. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Head of School to implement a Medical Workforce Strategy aimed at enhancing trainee recruitment and retention, while also providing expert advice on specialty-specific matters.

This position is a three-year secondment, with the possibility of extension, and requires candidates to secure agreement from their current employer if applying from within the NHS. Key responsibilities include supporting trainee assessment, rotational management, and supervision, as well as promoting or leading various work programs on behalf of the School of Surgery.
