The Chief Cardiac Physiologist at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is responsible for delivering comprehensive invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigation services to patients, while also supporting the training and development of junior physiologists. The role involves overseeing departmental operations in the absence of the Cardiac Clinical Physiologist Manager, ensuring high service standards through continuous professional development and involvement in service audits, demand capacity mapping, and departmental research efforts.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, such as performing echocardiograms, providing technical support for pacemaker implants, and conducting stress echo studies, the Chief Cardiac Physiologist will also manage departmental resources, including ordering supplies and negotiating competitive prices. This multifaceted position combines clinical practice, education, and managerial duties, requiring strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously while liaising with clinical colleagues and management as needed.

More about the NHS

This revolutionary system aimed to ensure that access to medical services would not depend on an individual’s financial situation, a concept that has since become fundamental to British societal values.Learn more...
