The Special School Nurse role in Portsmouth with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is designed for an experienced and dynamic nurse to join a collaborative team providing specialized nursing care across nine Special Schools in the region. The position involves using a family-centered approach to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the health needs of children with complex care requirements. Key responsibilities include teaching school staff, creating care plans, supervising junior staff and students, and ensuring the health needs of children are met within a supportive educational environment.

Candidates must hold a registration as a Children's or Learning Disability Nurse, with relevant experience in caring for children and individuals with learning disabilities; prior experience in special school nursing is preferred. The role also emphasises the importance of quality and safety, aligning with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of conduct, which advocates for prioritizing people, effective practice, and promoting professionalism.
