An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Head of Nursing to join the Surgical, Transplant, and Anaesthetic (STA) Division. The role will provide clinical and operational leadership to the Surgery Department within the STA Division as part of a team with the STA Head of Nursing, Clinical Directors, and Operational Director. A key element of the role is setting the tone and modelling collective and compassionate leadership behaviours to build positive staff engagement and an inclusive culture to ensure our patients experience the best and safest care.

We are looking for a leader who can support teams across Surgery to build their clinical capability and confidence. We are interested not just in your clinical excellence but also in your ability to be a visible, optimistic, and compassionate leader who will develop staff by understanding their needs and aspirations.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic nurse to join our leadership team in the Surgery, Transplant, and Anaesthetic division. This is an exciting role in delivering exceptional patient care, enhancing clinical governance, and supporting continued professional development for our staff.

We also want to hear from you if you are as concerned about the lack of diversity at senior nursing levels within the NHS as we are. We believe that a greater combination of differences in our teams will make a real difference in the experiences of our diverse patient group and staff.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the Head of Nursing to ensure effective management of nursing services and alignment with the organisation's vision and values. The role will also be involved in efficient resource allocation, patient flow, and staff management.

You will be involved in leading quality improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities to enhance patient care and safety. Working closely with the matrons, you will ensure rigorous monitoring and auditing processes are in place, responding to any concerns or issues in a timely and effective manner.

In collaboration with the Head of Nursing and finance teams, you will contribute to the efficient financial management of the nursing service by supporting budget planning and allocation to ensure the optimal use of resources.

You will play a key role in supporting the education and professional development of nursing staff by leading initiatives to foster continuous professional development, ensuring nurses are equipped with skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care.

In collaboration with the leadership team, you will be involved in fostering a culture of openness and transparency, encouraging staff to raise concerns, and ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
