This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding and dynamic ACSA-accredited anaesthetic department in a role designed to develop skills in all aspects of Regional Anaesthesia. The Regional anaesthesia Fellowship is a fixed term 12-month post for experienced doctors who have made a career commitment to Anaesthetics and who have a strong interest in Regional Anaesthesia to develop knowledge and skills to deliver safe and effective regional anaesthesia, plus participating in teaching, management, and service improvement. The Fellowship includes a minimum of three half-day session per week of dedicated time for Regional Anaesthesia. This fellowship can support training in all aspects of Regional Anaesthesia Pathways including teaching, audits, quality improvement projects, participation in course organising.
The post can support Anaesthetic trainees, in any stage of Anaesthetic training, from a minimum of 2 years Core training subject to prospective approval from local TPD, or as a post-CCT fellowship. Applications would also be welcome from equivalently experienced Trust or SAS doctors who can demonstrate a career interest and/or regular sessional commitment to Regional Anaesthesia.
All applicant must hold a Full GMC Registration with the Licence to Practice in UK.
The Fellow will participate in anaesthetic clinical duties on the Stoke Mandeville Hospital (SMH) and Wycombe Hospital (WGH) sites. This will generally include participation in the full shift, middle tier, out-of-hours Anaesthetic rotas which include theatre, obstetric anaesthesia and/or ICM out of hours rotas. The successful applicants could be expected to work across both sites for both daytime activity and out of hours activity.Participation on the out-of-hours rota will be designed to maintain the weekly Perioperative session unless exceptional circumstances intervene.
Daytime clinical duties will be flexible around departmental requirements in addition to individual preferences if additional skills need to be maintained for revalidation e.g. ICU sessions will be accommodated if required.
