The West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is hiring a qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Fitter/Plumber for a Band 5 position at Watford General Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance of complex mechanical control systems throughout the Trust's estate. Required qualifications include a time-served apprenticeship, City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering/Plumbing, or equivalent, along with NVQ3 or higher. The role offers potential earnings over £40,000, due to additional benefits such as overtime and on-call payments.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing faults on mechanical services, carrying out installation and maintenance work on heating systems, ventilation systems, and pumps, as well as conducting statutory inspections. The position requires the ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks effectively, and comply with health and safety regulations. Candidates must be able to travel to site within one hour for emergency calls and may need to participate in shift work and planned overtime. Prior experience in hydraulic and pneumatic systems is essential, along with a strong ability to collaborate with other trades and external contractors.
