The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Principal EQA Scientist and Scheme Manager for its Birmingham Quality (UK NEQAS) team, dedicated to providing External Quality Assessment (EQA) services for Clinical Chemistry laboratories both in the UK and internationally. The role involves offering expert advice to laboratory professionals on EQA performance implications, managing the scientific aspects of EQA schemes, and ensuring compliance with internationally accepted accreditation standards. This position requires a strong background in laboratory medicine and relevant education, with responsibilities including the design and implementation of EQA schemes, performance surveillance, and addressing customer complaints.

The successful candidate will support the Director and Deputy Director, integrate clinical and technical knowledge, and take an active role in continuous quality improvement within the department. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, and encourages prospective applicants to reach out for further information or to visit the Birmingham Quality facility. Requirements include a first or second-class honours degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related subject, along with a master's degree or equivalent knowledge in laboratory medicine.
