The Children and Young Peoples Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) is a service transformation programme delivered by Health Education England and partners that aims to improve existing children and young peoples mental health Services (CYP MHS) working in the community. Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner training will benefit from being integrated fully within CYP MHS and linked to the CYP IAPT collaborative, which brings a valuable organisational infrastructure.
This is a fixed-term training role within the Child and Young Persons Improving Access To Psychological Therapies Programme (CYP-IAPT). The post-holder will work within the Dept of Children & Young Peoples Psychological Medicine / Services within the Paediatric & Adolescent Division, providing interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The post- holder will work in the service for at least 2.5-3.0 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme for the remaining 2.0-2.5 days. This is a novel setting for use of CYP-IAPT and we are excited to be able to offer and appraise its effectiveness in an acute hospital setting to better meet the needs of CYP being treated in hospital.
This is a training position post holder will undertake training at University College London alongside working in service for the UCLH Dept Child & Adolescent Psychological Medicine/Services. They will be taught to deliver evidence based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The post holder will use their newly developed skills to support children and young people who are referred into the service and trainees will receive supervision to support their professional development.

Information about the Training & the Job Role
This role will be best suited for applicants that are able to balance a very busy work and study schedule. You will be an employee at the service but also enrolled on a Diploma course. Applicants must be prepared to work towards their studies outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work). Protected study time or teaching days are typically two days a week during term (with possibility of extra university days near start) and will be a mixture of in person and online sessions. Applicants must be willing to travel into London to attend their lectures.
The UCLH Dept Child & Adolescent Psychological Medicine / Services has been successful in its bid to introduce Children's Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) to the existing service. We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner, as part of the Health Education England (HEE) funded programme in partnership with the Anna Freud Centre, University College London. The post-holder will be training on the Children & Young People Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) CWP course and carrying out clinical work in our service to complement their studies and use their newly developed skills. This is a training role within the Children and Young People' Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT). The post-holder will work within our Psychological Medicine service delivering, under supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service.
The post-holder will work within our Psychological Medicine service delivering, under supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service.
The post holder will attend all university based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.
We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic practitioners to work and train within our service. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion. The post holder will be required to work closely with other members of the administrative team and clinical teams, including managers, administrators, nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and support workers.
The post holder will be required to liaise with a range of staff internally and externally across the Trust and with partner and external organisations.
