Child & Adolescent Mental Health / Learning Disabilities Nurse with Swansea Bay University Health Board in Neath Port Talbot
The post holder will have responsibility to provide expertise to young people and families seeking support from theChild and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) within Swansea Bay University Health Board. This is a community-based service which provides support in various locations, as is appropriate for the young person (e.g. clinic, school, home). The role involves partnership working and close collaboration with statutory and third sector partners as well as families/ carers/ trusted adults. This post will play a key role within the CAMHS multi-professional team. The post holder will be required to clinically assess need and provide interventions under Part 1 and Part 2 of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure (2010) and will need to adopt a flexible approach to work to ensure that they can adapt to the changing needs of the service. Interventions provided by the appointee must include evidence-based, biopsychosocial interventions utilising CBT-informed approaches in both an individual and group-based modalities. The post holder will be responsible for providing timely, patient-led care in line with the needs of young people and their families/carers, ensuring culturally sensitive practice, amongst a wider professional team consisting of nursing, psychiatry, psychology, psychological therapies, and other disciplines. The post holder will provide high-quality, evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)-informed approaches to groups, individuals and families. Work on own initiative when providing consultation, liaison and support, directing the young person to the correct support pathway using independent clinical decision-making. Complete strengths-based assessments under Part 1 of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure (2010). Be responsible for providing timely, patient-led care in line with the needs of young people and their families/carers, ensuring culturally sensitive practice. Provide expertise within the CAMHS multi-professional team, consisting of nursing, psychiatry, psychology, psychological therapies, and other disciplines. Provides support in various locations, as is appropriate for the young person (e.g. Clinic, school, home) and therefore will be required to travel independently within the geographical area. Assess and manage patient safety and risk and maintain appropriate record keeping in line with health board and professional standards including documentation (e.g. Wales applied risk research network (WARRN)). Support and line manage newly qualified staff and support workers. Possess organisation skills to manage a clinical caseload with competing demands and interruption. Maintain and uphold the requirements of professional registration. Requirement to assist within the limits of your knowledge and competence if an emergency arises.
