Consultant in Plastic Surgery with a subspecialist interest in Dermato-Oncology

The Plastic Surgery Department at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals seeks a plastic surgery consultant with a subspecialist interest in skin cancer management. Experience of close collaborative working in the setting of a skin cancer multi-disciplinary team is essential and in a specialist skin cancer multi-disciplinary team desirable. Candidates must be familiar with all aspects of cutaneous oncology management. They must be a good team-player.
Within Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals is the internationally regarded St John's Institute for Dermatology, providing, secondary, tertiary and quaternary dermatological care. The Trust has three skin cancer multi-disciplinary teams (one local, and two specialist - non-melanoma skin cancer and melanoma,). The post-holder will join two plastic surgery consultants who work harmoniously with colleagues in other disciplines to provide surgical care for cutaneous malignancy. Existing noteworthy expertise includes nasal reconstruction and electrochemotherapy, candidates providing skills that enhance the surgical team will be warmly welcomed.

Job Summary:
To provide a Plastic Surgery service in conjunction with colleagues
The post holder will have a specialist expertise in surgical aspects of Dermato Oncology
To contribute to sector lead MDT's
To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care
To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development, including support of satellite sites across London
To assist in the future development of the Plastic Surgery department
Provide High Quality Care to Patients
The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice
To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities.
To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
The post holder will be supported with medical secretary support to type and manage clinic, new appointments and ensure patients are appropriately followed up in clinic, tracking results and tests.
About usCandidates must be fully registered with the General Medial Council ,hold License to Practice, and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining Certificate of Completion of Training, or equivalent, at interview stage.
The post holder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions.
The hours of work will be as detailed in a job plan and may be varied from time to time in accordance with the Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions.
