The Senior Communications Manager at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for enhancing and protecting the organisation's reputation by managing various internal and transformational communication programs. Key responsibilities include overseeing communication strategies aligned with the Trust’s objectives, leading initiatives such as Listening into Action and Anti-Racism, and ensuring effective engagement with stakeholders. The role requires collaboration with senior managers to develop communication campaigns, manage staff engagement programs, and maintain brand integrity. The postholder will supervise direct reports, conduct appraisals, and ensure compliance with communications best practices.

Additionally, the Senior Communications Manager will manage budgets for specific programs, draft reports to inform senior management, and stay current with NHS policies and practices. They are expected to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and provide guidance during corporate events. The role may also involve training staff on internal communication and digital skills, and occasionally managing sensitive situations in crisis communications. Overall, the position is pivotal in driving the Trust's ambition towards building a culture of trust and effective communication within the organisation.
