Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with Interest in Interstitial Lung Disease

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new locum consultant 9 month post within the Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT) Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Unit, based at Wythenshawe Hospital.

The successful applicants will join an established team of health care professionals servicing a population of over 5 million.

The service provides general ILD clinics as well as subspecialist Rheumatology ILD, Vasculitis ILD, Familial ILD, Sarcoidosis clinics and offers an outreach nursing service to North Manchester and Central Manchester Hospitals. The service has a strong research tradition and experience and are currently running a number of commercial and non-commercial studies. The ILD team are focused on improving patient pathways and early review and diagnosis in ILD.

You would be encouraged to participate as a member of the research team (sub- or principal investigator) in national and international trials (commercial and non-commercial) for patients with ILD, including research grants.

The successful candidate would have the opportunity to conduct/lead service evaluation/audit/quality improvement projects in the ILD unit, ideally under The Integrated Research Application System (IRAS)

Education and training to staff, students and junior doctors will be an essential part of the role, and there will be opportunities to get involved in a more formal role in undergraduate or post graduate education for the appropriate applicant.

Applicants must have completed higher training and some experience in the specialist field of ILD is desirable. Research training, and a postgraduate degree are desirable requirements (MD or PhD). This post would be suitable for SpR's at completion of training, but also to consultants with some expertise in ILD.
