The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is offering a 24-month Fellowship in Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery, commencing on October 1, 2025. This fixed-term position is designed for trainees who have completed their StR training and wish to enhance their expertise in preparation for a consultant role with a focus on Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery. The fellowship includes comprehensive training in areas such as Advanced Rhinology, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, and Nasal Reconstructive Surgery, with opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration across fields like Endocrinology, Neurosurgery, and Plastics.

The postholder will manage outpatient and inpatient care for rhinology patients, ensuring high standards of service and communication while collaborating with surgical trainees. Responsibilities include maintaining patient records, preparing documentation, participating in departmental audits, and occasionally providing cover for registrar absences. An opportunity has arisen for a Fellowship in Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery for fixed term period of 24 months starting on Wednesday 1st October 2025. Due to service needs these dates are not flexible.

The post is suitable for trainees who have completed their StR training and are seeking to extend their experience prior to applying for a consultant post with a subspecialist interest in Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery. The post will provide comprehensive training in Advanced Rhinology, Endoscopic Sinus, Anterior Skull Base and Nasal Reconstructive Surgery and has the advantage of multidisciplinary management with Endocrinology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, plastics and Maxillofacial Surgery.

The postholder will be responsible for the outpatient and inpatient care of rhinology patients as directed by the Consultants within the department. The post holder will be expected to maintain a high quality level of service for elective and emergency patients in conjunction with the higher surgical trainees.

The postholder will be expected to maintain high standards of communication and documentation in relation to patient care, including maintaining medical records, the preparation of discharge summaries and clinic letters and maintenance and collection of statistical data.

The postholder will contribute to the regular audit and journal meetings in the department.

This post holder is expected on occasions to cover any registrar sick leave at UHB.
