The role of Palliative Care Nurse at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust in Peterborough involves providing high-quality palliative care to patients with complex end-of-life needs in both community and acute hospital settings. Candidates are expected to possess knowledge of symptom management for patients with malignant and non-malignant conditions and will engage in educating healthcare professionals about palliative care. The position requires participation in a seven-day service, which includes working on weekends and bank holidays, and offers opportunities for professional development and potential future permanence.

Responsibilities include delivering holistic care interventions, demonstrating leadership, conducting formal and informal training, and engaging in service improvement initiatives. The Palliative Care Nurse will also be accountable for performing complex assessments, planning and evaluating care in collaboration with the Specialist Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), and managing challenging clinical situations. Effective communication and innovative clinical practices are essential components of this role, as well as the ability to support staff development and engage in service planning and improvement efforts.
