In addition to serving food, the Catering Assistant will be responsible for cleaning equipment, managing dishwashing duties, and completing departmental paperwork. Adherence to hygiene standards is crucial. The Trust also emphasises flexible working arrangements where possible to accommodate the needs of both employees and the service. Candidates should be aware that a DBS check is required, and the cost will be deducted from the first month's salary.
An opportunity has arisen within the Catering Department at The Freeman Hospital for a Part Time Catering Assistant to work as a part of our team working in the Freeman Catering Department serving food to staff, visitors and patients, as a part of the team you will also be responsible for the cleanliness of the department in line with food hygiene regulations and trust policies. please note we are open 365 days a year.
Working on a 3 week roster, 5 days over 7
Position - 11.15 to 15.15

- Cleaning of the equipment within the department.
- Working on the patient belt, placing food on the plate to ensure patient gets the food they require.
- Working in the dish wash area stripping the trolleys and placing the crockery through the washers.
- Filling in of departmental paper work.
- General cleaning duties within the department.
- At all times following food hygiene and trust policy regulations.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
