The East of England Ambulance Service is seeking 999 Emergency Call Handlers for their Operations Centre in Chelmsford, Essex. Ideal candidates will stay calm under pressure, show empathy, and be committed to helping others. The role involves quickly processing emergency calls, accurately entering data into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, and providing pre-arrival advice using a triage tool. No clinical experience is required, but candidates should have a good education (4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English) and good computer skills. Some call-centre experience is beneficial but not essential. Candidates must pass online assessments and background checks before employment. Flexible working options and eight-hour shifts are available. Applications must include a supporting statement addressing the criteria in the person specification. CVs are not accepted.
