Candidates with specific subspecialty interests are welcome to discuss those further, and flexibility is offered for those unable to work full-time. The on-call commitment includes a 1:13 Consultant rota for weekday nights and weekends, alongside responsibilities for patient care and departmental operations. United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust have a vacancy for a full time Consultant in General Anaesthesia. On-call duties for this Consultant postwill be based at Pilgrim Hospital however post-holders will be expected to operate flexibly across all hospital sites. The Appointee will be expected, in conjunction with his / her colleagues, to provide a comprehensive on-call General Anaesthetic service atPilgrim Hospital. Successful candidates will be expected to cover cross-sites as per the ULHT Policy and this will be discussed in job plan.The appointee will take part in the general anaesthesia consultant on-call rota for emergency duties at Pilgrim Hospital and provide, on areciprocal basis, emergency cover for colleagues during periods of absence.He/she will be required to play an active part in the robust clinical governance programme in operation within the Department and to take part inregional and national audits and participate in service improvement. He/she will also be required to report all critical incidents and expected toattend regularly Clinical Audit, Critical Incident Reporting, Morbidity & Mortality and Anaesthetic Departmental Team meetings.He/she will be expected to undertake clinical supervision of Foundation, Core or Specialty trainees including workplace assessment, feedback andcommunication with educational supervisors as appropriate.The appointee will have continuing responsibility for patients in his / her care and for the proper functioning of the department. Involvement inresearch where appropriate is encouraged.He/she will be encouraged to participate in management duties within the Department and the organisation.

The Appointee will be expected, in conjunction with his/hercolleagues, to provide a comprehensive Anaesthetic service to ULHT.The postholders on-call duties will be based at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, Lincolnshire, but it is a condition of the appointment that thepostholder will be willing to work in any of the Trusts locations or outreach district general hospital clinics.In addition he/she will be required to: Undertake such other duties as may be identified to meet the needs of the service. The post holder will be expected to partake in teaching activities for junior doctors in training and medical students.The Job Plan and duties will be reviewed and updated on a regular basis in line with demands of the service.
