The Devon Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a Band 3 Peer Support Worker to join the Adult Inpatient Team on Haytor Ward in Torquay for a part-time position of 22.5 hours per week. This role involves leveraging personal experiences of mental health challenges to provide insights that aid in patients' recovery. The Trust will offer comprehensive training and development support, encouraging applicants to be motivated, flexible, and eager to learn.

Candidates must possess relevant experience in mental illness and recovery, with strong communication skills to engage respectfully and effectively with patients and their families. The role demands the ability to handle sensitive information, work independently under pressure, and manage one's own workload while providing support to colleagues. Additionally, Peer Support Workers may assist in the induction of new staff and will be supported in achieving a Level 3 QCF qualification as they grow in their roles within the team.

We will support you to learn the peer support work skills you need to thrive in the role. We will offer you a comprehensive induction, training and development support you need to begin a fulfilling career. In return, you will need to be motivated, flexible and keen to learn.

You will often work under some degree of pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone with confidence to work independently. You will prioritise tasks, and manage your own workload, providing support for your colleagues where required.

You will become an important part of the team, working to ensure that every patient receives high quality care. You may be required to support the induction of new staff member, sharing what your role entails.

We will help you to grow in the role, and will support you to achieve the Level 3 QCF qualification.
