The London Bridge Hospital in South-East London encompasses an outpatients and diagnostic centre in The Shard; the large world-class hospital based at the Tooley Street site; Private Care at Guys, which is on the top four floors of Guys Hospital Cancer Centre; and outpatient and diagnostic centres across the City and Canary Wharf. With 160 beds, 22 ICU beds and 10 operating theatres we offer our patients exceptional treatment across a multitude of acute and complex care and have use of the latest technologies and healthcare innovations.
As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for a majority Orthopaedic and Trauma clinical caseload, both inpatients and day cases, providing high quality Physiotherapy care to patients across the London Bridge Hospital campus. You will also need to provide clinical support across other areas of the hospital, including general surgery, cardiorespiratory and oncology. The role will require you to support the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Lead and Advanced Orthopaedic Physiotherapist, aiding in the clinical development of the orthopaedic physiotherapy team and service.

- To be responsible for a majority Orthopaedic and Trauma clinical caseload, both inpatients and day cases, providing high quality Physiotherapy care to patients across the London Bridge Hospital campus.
- To be able to provide clinical support across other areas of the hospital, including general surgery, cardiorespiratory and oncology.
- Use expert clinical reasoning to provide specialist intervention, support and advice to patients, ensuring best practice is applied at all times.
- To provide comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments for each patient.
- To plan and implement treatment using a goal planning system.
- To work to the highest standards to facilitate evidence-based patient care, playing a key role in implementing, facilitating and developing physiotherapy best practice in line with local and national guidelines.
- To maintain accurate, up-to-date and concise treatment records detailing the individual patients treatment plan and progress.
- To ensure patients and carers are involved in the planning and delivery of their own care.
- To be responsible for the safe and timely discharge of patients and to be able to communicate this effectively to other healthcare professionals and refer onwards as appropriate to community teams.
- To anticipate, assess and respond effectively to the needs of the patients, thus making excellent customer service a first priority.
- To ensure that physiotherapy sessions are commenced on time and patients are charged appropriately for their treatment.
- To work closely with other members of the team to ensure that an agreed care plan and patient centred goals are set and that the outcome of intervention is monitored.
- Ensure all units of service charges are captured and take responsibility for meeting utilisation targets.
- To ensure that the correct billing procedures are performed daily and that patients are informed of the current procedure regarding equipment purchase from the Department.
- To work flexibly to the needs of the service and to participate in the weekend and standby service as required.
- To support the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Lead and Advanced Orthopaedic Physiotherapist, aiding in the clinical development of the orthopaedic physiotherapy team and service.
- To contribute to the management of the department, audit, clinical governance and to maintain personal CPD.
- To support the senior clinicians and assistant with individual training needs and service development initiatives.
- Utilise up to date evidence, and local and national guidelines, to ensure the department is delivering clinical excellence.
- To keep up to date with relevant research and new treatment modalities in physiotherapy.
- To take an active role in the inpatient physiotherapy IST and be prepared to give talks/demonstrations to other disciplines.
- To actively seek continuous professional development and comply with evidence-based practice.
- To communicate effectively with consultants across Orthopaedics, developing and building professional relationships.
- To work as an effective team member of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams.
- To attend case conferences, team meetings and teaching sessions.
- To actively seek opportunities to develop strong communication lines and relationships with Orthopaedic consultants.
- To take an active role in the promotion, marketing and cost improvement activities for the Physiotherapy Department.
- To keep abreast of current funding agreements between HCA and insurance providers.
- To attend and participate in relevant MDT meetings.
- Maintain open channels of communication with the Inpatient Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Lead and with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- To ensure policies and procedures are adhered to within your clinical area.
- To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work.
- To maintain a high standard of professional and personal conduct, complying with the HCA code of conduct and the HCPC rules of professional conduct.
- To comply with all health and safety, infection control and clinical risk management policies as indicated.
- To report all equipment faults.
- To participate in regular notes audits and to ensure personal documentation complies within accepted CSP and HCA standards.
- To take responsibility for ensuring all mandatory training requirements by HCA are kept up-to-date.
