CANCER EMPATHY FAMILY NHS
The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Hepatobiliary (HPB) Clinical Nurse Specialist to join their team at the Royal Derby and Queens Hospital Burton. In this role, the specialist nurse will provide high-quality care and support to patients experiencing HPB cancer, working closely with surgeons, hepatologists, oncology consultants, and other team members. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, compassion, and empathy, alongside knowledge or experience in hepatobiliary disorders or clinical nurse specialist roles.

The responsibilities include coordinating patient care through the cancer pathway, from referrals, diagnostics, and treatment to ongoing supportive care. The role involves supporting patients in outpatient settings, consultant clinics, and on the wards, while managing a personal case load. Although substantial experience is preferred, it is not essential, as the trust values passion and motivation in candidates. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are crucial for success in this position.
