We are currently looking to recruit a part-time experienced Medical Receptionists to join our small friendly city-centre GP practice.
We are looking for someone who is able to work on a Thursday and Friday (8 am - 6 pm)
In addition, there might be some evening and weekend shifts on an ad hoc basis.
We expect staff to help to cover each others holiday and sickness absences so you must be flexible and available throughout the year.
Ideally, we would like someone with experience of working in a GP surgery. Experience of using EMIS Web is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
This role is to act as the main point of contact between the patient and the primary healthcare team.
We expect team members to be friendly, enthusiastic, reliable and efficient individuals who can thrive when expected to multi-task in a busy environment. It requires good IT skills, attention to detail, accuracy and above all excellent communication skills.

Arranging appointments using a computerised appointment system for patients coming to the desk and via the telephone.
Greeting patients on arrival, booking them in and directing them to waiting area.
Taking requests by telephone for appointments and home visits quickly and efficiently.
Directing calls to the appropriate person and taking messages and dealing with them as set out in protocols.
Advising patients of other services available (signpost).
Liaising with GPs and Nurses and other staff within the Health Centre.
Dealing with requests from clinicians as quickly and efficiently as possible, e.g. booking ambulances, telephoning patients, etc.
Dealing with eConsult requests from patients, getting them triaged and liaising with patients as necessary.
Issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with requests for prescriptions as appropriate.
Giving results of tests to patients following the confidentiality code.
Dealing with incoming electronic mail and forwarding it to correct destination.
Coding information into the Practice clinical system.
Filing and retrieving paperwork.
Updating patient records changes of names, addresses, telephone numbers, etc.
Scanning & photocopying documents and ensure outgoing post is sent promptly.
Handing out letters/ blood forms/ prescriptions/ sick notes, etc.
Advising patients who wish to register at the Practice as to the correct procedure.
Scanning paper documents and filing them in the computerised patients record.
Handling requests for information from outside agencies.
Entering the details of new registrations into the computer system from hand written forms and electronically received forms.
