The University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Practitioner in Ophthalmology for their busy theatre in Rugby, focusing primarily on cataract surgery and ocular plastics for adult patients. This Clinical Band 6 Lead position involves collaborating with the Band 7 Ophthalmic Lead to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care while serving as an advocate for patients. Key responsibilities include providing clinical leadership, performing a variety of theatre duties, and maintaining compliance with Trust policies. The practitioner will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate peri-operative care, ensuring patient safety and managing surgical materials and equipment.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role emphasises teamwork and leadership, requiring effective communication and collaboration with the theatre team, as well as managing resources and promoting innovation within the department. The practitioner will also play a vital role in education and mentoring, fostering a supportive learning environment and supervising staff and students. Continual professional development and adherence to the NMC/HPC Code of Conduct are essential aspects of this position.
