The Theatre Scrub Nurse at Kinvara Private Hospital in Rotherham will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary theatre team, providing high standards of nursing care and ensuring patient safety within the theatre unit. Key responsibilities include preparing patients for surgical procedures, assisting during operations, delivering initial emergency care as needed, and maintaining the comfort and dignity of patients throughout their time in the theatre. The role also involves assembling and preparing surgical instruments, coordinating the use of supplies, monitoring stock, and promoting infection control practices.

In addition to clinical duties, the Theatre Scrub Nurse will adhere to professional standards, participate in staff education and training, and contribute to policy changes based on audits or new guidelines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a patient-focused approach while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, and will be proactive in maintaining a safe and effective environment for both patients and staff.

As an Scrub Nurse, you will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary theatre team providing a high standard of nursing care and safety for patients within the theatre unit. In addition to this, you will also actively contribute to the maintenance of an environment that is conducive to the delivery and promotion of a high standard of patient care. The post holder will adhere to professional and national standards and work in a patient-focused way. Delivering a service that is safe, effective and efficient.

This will include: Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures Provide assistance in clinical/ operative procedures Providing initial emergency care as required. Working with members of the multi-disciplinary Theatre team following local protocols and standards. Ensuring that the patients comfort, dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.

This will include: Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures Provide assistance in clinical/ operative procedures Providing initial emergency care as required. Working with members of the multi-disciplinary Theatre team following local protocols and standards. Ensuring that the patients comfort, dignity and privacy are maintained at all times. Assemble, check and prepare the appropriate surgical instruments and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures incorporating various types of surgery prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Manager immediately. Coordinate the use of supplies and equipment during the operating list, ensuring the equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner. Monitor and check stock items including consumables, equipment and drugs. Promote and ensure an environment conducive to the continuing prevention and control of infection for all staff, patients and visitors. Ensure any accidents or complaints are fully documented and that the appropriate manager is informed. Maintain the safe custody, handling of drugs in accordance with Kinvara Private Hospitals policy Participate in education, training and development of other staff. Actively contribute to changes in practice and policies when changes have arisen which may follow an audit, complaint or newly issued guidance. Adhere to all Kinvara Private Hospital policies and procedures. Undertaking any other duties as required by the line manager.
