JOB PURPOSEo To Provide a specialist clinical service with responsibility to a caseloadspecific to the role for children with developmental speech and languagedelays / disorders / social communication / feeding or swallowing difficultiesas relevant to the role.o To provide a service at settings within designated locality, working closelywith parents/carers, schools staff and other relevant professionals, to enablechildren to develop their speech, language and communication skills and toaccess the age relevant curriculumo To assess the needs for, develop and implement Speech and LanguageTherapy treatment to children referred within designated locality andpresenting with a wide range of speech, language and communicationdifficulties
o To provide advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties
o To understand and meet professional and legal SEND responsibilitiesoutlined in the Children and Families Act 2including contributing tostatutory assessments of special educational needs and delivery of Speech and Language Therapy provision as specified in children's Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
o To be accountable for own professional actions and recognise ownprofessional boundaries, seeking advice from senior colleagues asappropriate
o The post holder will also provide line management, supervision and peer review support to less experienced colleagues and students, including second opinions
To manage and prioritise own caseload independently, demonstrating skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management.To assess the need for, develop and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment to children referred within designated locality with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties.To assess childrens communication and interaction needs and provide professionaladvice to contribute to statutory assessments (Education Health and Care Plan Needs Assessments) and the annual review process for individual children in line with the Children and Families Act 2.To deliver Speech and Language Therapy provision to children as specified in Education Health and Care Plans in line with the Children and Families Act 2.To analyse auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of childrens communication and to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness in the home, nursery, school and other relevant settings
