The role of Consultant Psychiatrist for the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at St Mary's Hospital in Kettering involves providing high-quality care and leadership to patients experiencing acute psychiatric conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing recovery-focused, individualized treatment plans in collaboration with a dedicated multidisciplinary team. This position includes overseeing clinical assessments, leading Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings, and managing essential legal and administrative responsibilities, such as preparing reports for tribunals and engaging with other services, including the Ministry of Justice for restricted patients.

In addition to direct patient care, the consultant will also be involved in clinical sessions within a prison setting, acting as a senior clinician and leader in those respective services. The unit aims for short lengths of stay to manage acute phases of illness while ensuring care is administered in the least restrictive manner. A £40,000 welcome bonus is offered, distributed over the first two years of employment.
