Applications are invited for a consultant geneticist with a focus on rare disease in the department of Clinical Genetics, for 10PAs.
We are keen to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic candidate who will join an innovative and forward-thinking clinical service which benefits from close links to extensive research groups. Clinics will be held at St George's Hospital and at various locations throughout Surrey and West Sussex. Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of attaining a CCST at the time of interview.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual who is passionate about translating genomic data to improve the care of rare disease. Clinicians within the rare disease service have established very close working relationships with both specialist colleagues within St George's and those working in secondary and primary care across the region to provide integrated care for patients.
The post-holder will join this supportive and innovative team and take shared responsibility for cancer genetics referrals to clinics at St. Georges University Hospital and around the SW Thames region. The post-holder can develop their own specialist interest commensurate with departmental requirements and will be offered the opportunity to lead on specialist cancer services to support and enhance their continuing professional development and career aspirations. There will be opportunities for working across trusts to facilitate mainstreaming of genomic medicine. The post is for between 6-8PAs, divided between Direct Clinical Care and Supporting Professional Activities according to the requirements of the post holder and Trust. The post holder will also be expected to provide training for junior colleagues and support the Genetics Counsellors with review and management of complex cases.
