The role involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the Children and Young People's Mental Health Service, providing brief, evidence-based interventions for children aged 5-18 facing mild to moderate mental health challenges, such as anxiety and low mood. Trainees will receive supervision while supporting vulnerable young individuals and their families to improve emotional well-being and build resilience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting person-centered assessments and delivering psychological interventions, including psychoeducation and guided self-help.
  • Collaborating with families, social care professionals, and the wider community to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Managing referrals and waiting lists, and selecting appropriate therapeutic approaches in consultation with experienced practitioners.
  • Recording clinical activities and participating in evaluations to contribute to evidence-based practice.
  • Actively engaging in professional development through attending training and supervision sessions.

The position requires flexibility to meet service demands across South Tees, with a commitment to promoting inclusivity and responding to the needs of children and families. Trainees will work under the guidance of the IAPT Lead and other qualified supervisors, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and standards.
